FAAA INSPIRE BREAKFAST

Conscious style: How we can all wear our values

CONGRESS DAY TWO | TUESDAY 21 NOVEMBER | 7:15AM - 8:30AM SOLD OUT

Join us for breakfast on day two of the FAAA Congress and meet Natalie Shehata, a sustainable stylist of 15 years, and ethical fashion expert, educator, and community organiser. In this session, Natalie will talk to us about how we can use the medium of clothing to express ourselves unapologetically through conscious styling. The clothes we wear are layered with stories and meaning, and how we choose to dress is a powerful way to express what we stand for as everyday individuals and citizens. Come along to learn how we can make a greater difference in the world, one outfit and thread at a time!

Natalie is the founder + editor of tommie magazine -  ‘the destination for creative Women with a conscience’. She is a sustainable stylist, speaker, writer, non-traditional educator and community organiser – fighting for equity and social justice. Her work lies in redefining sustainability in the fashion space and beyond, to centre Black, Indigenous and People of colour communities; the original pioneers and trailblazers of sustainability.

Through the various mediums of her work, her mission is to empower and elevate the stories and lives of BIWoC specifically and to create new pathways and systems that honour these communities. With a fashion styling career spanning 15 years, she founded tommie magazine with the intention to change the way we consume and interpret fashion, by educating and bringing an awareness to how our clothes are made and what actually happens ‘behind the seams’ - both in the manufacturing of our clothing and the advertising of them. Her mission is to tell stories surrounding fashion + style - with heart, substance and integrity with secondhand style being the driving force to change.

You can follow Natalie’s adventures on Instagram @nattystylist and learn more about tommie magazine @tommiemag.
